MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK

Motion City Soundtrack are an infectious kind of band - infectious with their extreme mastering of the pop hook. They sound awesome and linger for a little while in your head, so you sing a line of a song, and then everyone else around you gets Motion City Soundtrack stuck in their heads as well because they're just that infectious.

The lyrics are a little neurotic, a bit deep, but also blindingly honest. When a Motion City Soundtrack song comes on, you instantly know it's Motion City Soundtrack. There's those distinctive vocals, insane mooging, tight drumming, funky bassing. The guitars sum it all up and pull everything together, tiptoeing on the edge of hearing. Their sound is constructed in a way to feature the vocals and the moog in the biggest way possible, while never letting you forget that the rhythm is what drives the whole band.

Motion City Soundtrack rock so bad. They have a certain hyper energy about themselves and it’s magnetic; you'll be drawn to them and they'll never release you.

Motion City Soundtrack will deceive you, too. They sound so bright, when most of the time, the subject matter isn't really happy at all. Take a closer listen sometime - Motion City Soundtrack stretch your perceptions of what makes a pop band.  They’ll explode into your head and demolish all the other moog pop bands who were there before they came along. You’ll find yourself throughout the day suddenly starting to sing the hookiest parts of the songs (let's face it – pretty much all of the song is the hook in terms of Motion City Soundtrack). The song-writing is excellent, and is pretty much the main focus of the music. That and those awesome hooks.  They really do screw with your mind.

When you first hear Motion City Soundtrack, you’ll like them a lot. It’ll end with them being your favourite band.

Motion City Soundtrack's debut album was I Am The Movie. Recently released was their second, Commit This To Memory, which are both available in all good record stores.
